Podcast with a North Devon seafarer who was captured by Somali Pirates

For this episode of A Window On North Devon we went to the Appledore and the home of Colin Darch a man who has spent his life at sea in the merchant navy working internationally as well as locally.  Towards the end of his career at the age of 70 Colin was in charge of a Tug destined for Singapore when the boat was boarded and he and his crew were taken hostage by Somali Pirates.

During our chat we talk about his career discover how Colin and his crew attempted to escape from their captors and how it felt once their release was negotiated. We also talk to Colin about his time piloting the Oldenburg to Lundy, his run in with the W.I and Jim asks him if he has ever walked the plank.
