Ashely Clark - Lynton And Lynmouth Cliff Railway - A Window On North Devon - Episode Thirteen
Ashley Clark from the Lynmouth Cliff Railway
In this podcast we went to Lynton & Lynmouth to talk to the engineer of the Cliff Railway, Ashley Clark. Ashley has been maintaining and managing this Victorian built funicular since 1979.
During the interview Ashley tells us how the railway, which is powered only by water, works. We find out where his other favourite railway is and we discover that if you are on your way to school you only have to pay 1p to ride.
As Ashley is a born and bread Lyntonian he knows a huge amount about the history of the two towns and of course the railway itself and he is happy to share his knowledge. This is a must listen if you like railways and North Devon history.
