A seaside gem in North Devon, Bayliss Cottage is in the picturesque village of Mortehoe near the bustling seaside destination of Woolacombe. Therefore, this beautiful cottage and its holiday-let annexe deserved windows and doors that preserved its historical appeal while delivering modern performance.

Residence Windows in Timeless Painswick Grey

For this project, we installed Residence windows in Painswick grey on the exterior and a white foil finish inside. These A-rated windows not only offer exceptional energy efficiency but also perfectly match the period character of the property. Astragal bars were included to further enhance the traditional aesthetics, ensuring the windows remain in harmony with the property’s age and surroundings.

Bay Window and Door Combination

One of the standout features of the installation was the striking two-sided bay window and door combination. This addition amplifies the cottage’s unique charm, creating a seamless blend of functionality and timeless design that complements the property’s heritage style.

A Cottage-Style Solidor Composite Door

To complete the look, a new Solidor cottage-style composite door was installed. This door combines exceptional security features with period-appropriate aesthetics, ensuring that Bayliss Cottage retains its welcoming, traditional appeal while benefiting from modern materials and craftsmanship.

Conservatory Replacement: The Perfect Upgrade

The cottage’s conservatory received a full upgrade with Residence 7 side frames and elegant French doors. Topped with a solid Ultraroof warm core roof featuring slate-effect tiles, the conservatory is not only visually appealing but also thermally efficient. The inclusion of single clear glazing panels allows natural light to flood the space, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere all year round.

The perfect blend of old and new, Bayliss Cottage now boasts a harmonious balance of period charm and contemporary performance. The thoughtfully chosen Residence windows, bay window and door features, and the upgraded conservatory ensure the property meets modern living standards while preserving its heritage appeal.
